Music Video (Production Logbook)

21/11/12 - Wednesday
On Wednesday's lesson, our teacher Barrington put us into groups after we all told him our individual ideas for the Music Video Assignment. My idea was nominated and chosen and I then recruited my team to help with my music video.

26/11/12 - Monday
Since Wednesday lesson, we have organised the call sheets and production schedule for our Music Video. Today, Monday, we've mapped out and gathered photographs of the locations that we are going to shoot at. We've created a Prezi illustrating our inspirations, influences, locations, schedules and other stuff required for getting a start on filming. Following our call sheets we have created a few days ago, we've mapped out a time and location meeting point to visit locations, rehearse and shoot on the day, which is tomorrow (Tuesday 27th November). So far, the weather conditions (according to BBC and ITV weather), are horrible but we are still meeting up to establish the shootings and possibly shoot if the weather conditions get better.

27/11/12 - Tuesday / Filming Day
Tuesday has come and we have finished college at 12:15. We followed our schedule to meet up with the main character at the desired meeting point. 13:10: We are at the filming locations but it is raining, very dull and wet so because of Health & Safety reasons, according to our Risk Assessment, we've decided to postpone the Music Shoot until Friday 30th November.

30/11/12 - Friday / 1 of 2 Production Day
We have successfully shot our first and last scene for the music video (seeing as the scene is in the same place). We have taken various snapshots and mapped out what exactly we were going to do. Everything went according to plan and the weather was great!

04/12/12 - Tuesday / 2 of 2 Production Day
We have planned to start shooting on this day. Because of poor weather conditions (health & safety reasons) we could not shoot on this day. Even without the health & safety reasons, the weather did not match the previous weather condition when we first shot (30th November) so that said, footages would look different and will not match previous scene. We have decided to shoot on Friday knowing that the deadline is relatively close.

So far, the weather says Friday is going to be a wet and cold day. Regardless of that, we have still planned on shooting because apparently days are going to get a lot worse from then on (what I mean by that is it will start snowing and temperatures will be very low). So it was best to get a draft just incase weather conditions are even worse after Friday.

07/12/12 - Friday / 2 of 2 Production Day
The day has arrived and the weather conditions, as the weather said, has matched BBC Weather, but it did mention that there will be a bit of sun and cloud from 10:00AM to 2:35PM so we used this gap to actually shoot our music video as an "actual" and not a "draft." The day looked better and better as time progressed so we used this advantage and got as much done as possible. Following this success, we've successfully filmed the last scene of our music video. Now all thats left to do is Edit & Export.

Music Video (Production List)

Production List

Production Group: Music Video
Completed by: Zekaria Al-Bostani
Production Title: Music Video – No Rooftops
Date: 27/11/12

Date
Activity

12/11/2012

Initial Idea
The first task of the project was to research some music videos from the internet and gather some expedition for the music videos. We needed to create an individual presentation with our statistics; research and prepare and present a presentation based on these key factors:
-        The history of the music videos.
-        Uses & Purposes of the music videos.
14/11/2012

Initial Idea
After doing the first task for the presentation, we than later needed to do some extra research to understand the terminology of styles and conventions.
-        Styles & Conventions (Narrative, Homage, Parody, Surrealist etc.
These are the main points we needed to talk about in the presentation for us to succeed.

19/01/2012

Initial Idea
I then moved onto the 3rd task of the project. This is the most important criterion of the whole planning for the music video. I was required to create a production folder for my idea with the assumption that my idea maybe will go into production. The documents should contain these standard production paperwork e.g.
-        Call Sheets
-        Equipment List
-        Risk Assessments
-        Production Schedule
-        Script
21/11/2012

Pre Production
One of the first tasks I did was to make the call sheet with one of my peers in the groups who gave me some support on how to do the call sheet. The call sheet is basically it’s a sheet of paper issued to the cast and crew of a film production, informing them where and when they should report for a particular day of shooting.
24/11/2012

Pre Production
The 2nd part of the production document was to create an equipment list for us to make sure what props we use for the filmmaking. This would be a crucial document for us to make sure what props we use for to record the music video itself.
24/11/2012

Pre Production
I then later went to do the risk assessments for the project; it’s an occupational sheet for to assess the risks of any duty for filmmaking. This assessment is carried out to prevent and accident or injury taking place in the future.
26/11/2012

Pre Production
The last document we needed to do for task 3 was to make a script for the actors. This will basically give them the lines they need to rehearse; therefore it will give them a role of what character they will act as.

Production
We than start to do the production work for the music video. Following on from the initial ideas and planning’s, we will use the specific locations and make sure this production of a music video comes to a success.

Evaluation
After I done all my production work and all my pre production work and got them out of the way, we then have to undertake a review of our production work and own performance. (500 words)
We have considered:
·    How does the finished podcast compare to the original proposal?
·    Is it appropriate to the intended audience?
·    What went well?
·    What went wrong?
·       What would you change?
